Green Smoothies using your Vitamix Blender
Here are some great ideas when making a green smoothie:
The key to making a great tasting green smoothie is to combine some sweet fruits with a dark leafy green.
The green that adds the most nutritional punch is Kale. Â Kale is high in fiber, and antioxidants. Â It has anti-inflammatory properties and helps in the detoxification process of the body because of its high sulfur content and isothiocyanates (ITC) from glucosinolates. Â Bunch of big words but just remember its great for detoxification. Also, it is extremely high is vitamin K, A, and C to name a few other nuttirents.
By adding a little bit of kale in your fruit smoothie, you can get greater benefits from it rather than eating Kale by cooking it as some of the benefits are reduced when you cook any vegetable.
Remember a little bit goes a long way, and if you’ve never had a green smoothie, try putting a smaller amount than the recipe below and then increase as needed so you can get use to a stronger taste gradually. Â The fresh fruits in the smoothie definitely helps offset any bitterness from the fresh kale and you will actually start looking forward to your morning or mid-afternoon smoothie.
There can be many variations of fruits in the recipe below so feel free to experiment.
1 cup grapes
1 cup kale
1/2 pear bartlett pear
1/2 cup water
2 cups ice cubes
You can of course use other greens, spinach is really popular. Â Kale happens to my favorite for its super foods qualities.
This is also a great green smoothie recipe for weight loss as it is filling, low fat, and packed full of nutrition. Â As you supply your body with the nutrition that it needs, you will automatically have less cravings for sugar and processed foods.
Take the green smoothie challenge. Â Have a green smoothie every day for at least a week. Â Then expand that time to 30 day green smoothie challenge.
If you have a healthy smoothie recipe or any comments or suggestions, please post here.  thank you so much.
