Since then, over a period of two months, he 30 pounds, his cholesterol, LDL and lost, have significantly improved their HDL has not increased, and its already high triglycerides significantly by 30%. The previous post by tthe potential risk factors. The Ornish group also states in his post, "It is true that you eat an unhealthy low-fat diet if it is high in simple carbohydrates .... Such a diet can lead to a shift towards more harmful pattern B LDL subclass to that Mr. Bayan mentions "We have diligently for the Ornish reversal diet / program and has seen" a shift to the more harmful LDL subclass pattern B, that Mr. Bayan "indicate you also mentioned that" increases patients whose triglycerides be advised to have even more aware of reducing their intake of simple carbohydrates and increasing their exercise. "We did not eat simple carbohydrates, like sugar, white flour, alcohol and many popular fat-free desserts, and my husband almost every exercise day. In addition, it states: "For many years we have recommended that patients take 3 grams / day of fish oil, which also helps lower triglycerides," We have less than 3 g / day of fish oil, together with the other recommended supplements, and his triglycerides by 30%. I must confess

, I''m confused, and while I think the Ornish program can work for some people, I am especially concerned about the safety of this program for my husband. We will pursue the cholesterol subclass testing mentioned by Mr. Bayan. I have also written some questions to the Ornish website about my concerns. . . but have no feedback as of yet, this phenomenon n, or the certainty that these test results are not something to be concerned about receiving. We plan with our cardiologists to explore what we can do to lower his triglycerides and HDL increase its work, for poor level of both are still considered "potential risk" I do not want to discourage "some people from changes in have proven diet and lifestyle that we be life "because I believe for some people that the Ornish program may be just the right thing. My question until I read more and have no more information is whether it could be risky for some who do not respond, the same way. Until I have more information and answers to my questions, I can not know with all my heart, whether it is for everyone. And I would certainly advise people who are interested in this program to try to do so with medical supervision, such as advising the Ornish group. As a side note. . I have really enjoyed the food Ornish reversal diet. We both enjoy a lot of the recipes, meditation, yoga and exercise. I like to do the totally inclusive approach with the whole person. I have also lost 25 pounds on this program. . and for this reason alone would be very happy with him further, as I have more to lose. , I have yet to plan my cholesterol tested again soon. Still. . We have to do some home work to find out why are my husbands triglycerides and HDL is not responding, what can we do about it, and to find out whether there is a problem that they do not. Since we both are otherwise satisfied with this program, we have both caught very disappointed with these hooks. So I was shocked to learn that my cholesterol was very unhealthy levels. All I had was my levels checked due to family history. My doctor told me I would definitely need to focus on medication to control my cholesterol. I refused medication for-life-begin at the age of 25, she suggested trying Ornish''s diet plan for a month, but be warned that they do not think I would sink so far that drugs would be, and probably inevitable. So I bought this book and from my new diet, try to set. First, I must admit it was hard. . . I had to give up what I liked. But within days I had this new source of energy that I had never had before. My workouts lasted longer, I ran on and pedaled harder. I lost 12 pounds in a month, even though I ate almost non stop. I was surprised and convinced that I would regardless of the diet of which there remain any impact on cholesterol levels. Today I am here for my results after the first month. My total cholesterol had dropped from 339 to 228, had covered my LDL 266-163 and my triglyceride count was down 129 to 99. My good cholesterol dropped only two points, 47-45, considers it perfectly within the healthy range. While I still come down a bit - it''s only for a month so far, and I have made "drugs needed immediately" to consider not even "off drugs." If your doctor wants you to bring drugs to lower cholesterol levels - you do yourself a favor and try this first! Rating: 5.5I’m 25, male, very physically fit, and ate a diet better than the average. Based on the premise "you are what you eat", we have witnessed not only our patients but also lose weight, many diseases such as diabetes, MS, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, CFS, EDS, diverticulitis, arthritis and certain forms of chronic pain in remission. Many of our patients are following Ornish plan and lose a "person". You may discover the new person they! One of our current patients on the program began September 1999 (3, 5 months) and weighed in last week 57 pounds less! With the help of this "text" learn people to eat better and take control of their lives. Their weight and disturbances are, of course disapearing. Thank you Dean Ornish from Cary, NC! My cholesterol 266 (& that''s after cutting out most red meat and bacon and not hamburgers). I have been motivated to try to improve the health of my arteries and heart. I would like for my ten-year-old retired Party!

Dr. Ornish diet program is followed for six months then had my cholesterol tested again. Everything improved: cholesterol 210, triglycerides went 389-217 and my ratio improved by 24%. I have never missed a meal. I never went hungry. Side effect: I lost 14 pounds and two inches around my waist without trying. I''m not trying enough exercise as I am now to increase my exercise. I probably exercised an average of once per week.

By the way, including Dr. Ornish is a diagram that you wanted to eat at least a certain amount of fat in the daily diet. I liked that the book of studies, which is filled by major U.S. universities. This is not a 600-page prose, but a large book to heart disease to return. If you know anyone who would like to hold your hand, call your mom. If you want a "How to Reverse Your Heart Disease" manual, buy this book. . . . Stop reading reviews and buy, read and try. For the past 24 years, the nonprofit Preventive Medicine Research Institute and the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine conducted research to prove scientifically, the first time that begin the progression of even severe coronary heart disease by reverse comprehensive changes in diet and lifestyle, without drugs or surgery. These studies have been published in leading journals such as the Journal of the AMA, The Lancet, the American Journal of Cardiology, New England Journal of Medicine, Circulation and other checks. Mr.

Bayan said that the food we have proven, as is so beneficial is "dangerous" for some patients, may decrease because of both HDL and LDL, and triglyceride levels may increase. HDL and triglycerides are only potential risk factors for heart disease, they are not diseases. If we consider the actual severity of heart disease with measured state-of-the-art measures such as computer analyzed coronary arteriography and cardiac PET scans showed that patients over time continued to improve, even with patients like Mr. Bayan, whose HDL decreased or triglycerides increased . Furthermore, cardiac events were second Five times lower in the group that the program, compared to the control group, which followed more moderate changes in diet (30% fat, 200 mg cholesterol) from. [Source JAMA. 1998; 280:2001-2007. ] Obviously reduces HDL through diet does not harm these patients. LDL-cholesterol decreased by an average of almost 40% during the first year, and none of the patients who had adhered to the diet an increase in LDL.

Dr. Connor wrote in the New England Journal of Medicine "There is no data to show that the physiologic reduction of HDL-cholesterol levels with a low-fat diet is detrimental. Diet-induced reduction in HDL-C confers not same risk of atherosclerosis as well as low HDL-cholesterol levels in Americans consuming a high fat diet. "[ref: N Engl J Med 1997; 337 (8). ]

It is true that you eat an unhealthy low-fat diet, high in simple carbohydrates if it is like sugar, white flour, alcohol and many popular fat-free desserts. Such a diet can lead to a shift to the more harmful LDL subclass pattern B, that Mr. Bayan mentions.

But this is not the diet we recommend for reversing heart disease. Other studies have shown that a diet high in fruits, vegetables, grains, beans and other complex carbohydrates (which is the diet we recommend) is indeed a departure from the pattern B LDL subclass pattern more positive [ref: Kenney JJ, et al. Very-low-fat diet does not necessarily promote small, dense LDL particles. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 1999, 70 (3) :423-5. ]

Patients whose triglycerides advice be increased even more mindful in reducing their intake of simple carbohydrates and increasing their exercise. Also for many years, we have recommended that the patients to 3 g / day of fish oil, which also helps to lower triglycerides. In the Multicenter Lifestyle Demonstration Project, we found that triglyceride levels, which initially increased slightly but not significantly dropped, then significantly in years two and three. [Ref: American Journal of Cardiology. 1998 82:72 T-76T. ] Almost 80% of people eligible for bypass surgery or angioplasty were able to prevent secure by making these diet and lifestyle changes instead.

the work of Dr. Robert Superko respect and often refer patients, his lipid laboratory for testing. Again we have found that patients with small, dense LDL also show reversal of heart disease on the program recommended.

The program includes a reversal diet is recommended for people with heart disease and preventing food for others. The prevention diet may be higher in fat and cholesterol than the reversal diet and is tailored to the needs of the individual, rather than a diet is something for everyone. The prevention diet, some oils, fish and other animal products for some people.

change from saturated fats to saturated fats, simple is better, but for the reversal of heart disease or lowering cholesterol it is better to avoid all oils other than fish oils. Olive oil is 100% total fat and 14% saturated fatty acids. The more you consume more oil, the more saturated fat you consume, the higher your plasma cholesterol. The studies show that olive oil lowers cholesterol levels only when the same amount of butter or oil, the higher content of saturated fat to be replaced. Moreover, the olive oil almost positive none of the omega-3 fatty acids.

The bottom line is this: The patients in our studies with severe heart disease reported a 91% reduction in angina (chest pain) within one month, and most were free of pain. She felt not only better, they were better. We measured improved blood flow within a month by thallium scans and radionuclide ventriculograms, reversal of coronary artery blockages (atherosclerosis) is measured within a year, yet reversal after five years, and 2 Five times fewer cardiac events (eg heart attack). It works. Rating: 5.5While we, that Mr. Bayan took the time to appreciate to know comment about our work, we are concerned that inaccurate information, he made some people from changes in diet and lifestyle that we have proved to be lifesaving has to hold.
